Your leading ladies of Americana in 2026: Katy Tessman, Emmy Woods, Laura Hugo, Mother Banjo, Haley E Rydell, are gracing the stage at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, MN on March 20th at 7pm. This annual event showcases the powerful female musicians in our community who are owning the Americana genre.

Why should you attend?

It’s Women’s History Month! Live music is amazing!

In all seriousness, Leading Ladies of Americana is a must-see event. It showcases women at the top of their field with an engaging and goosbump-worthy show. It’s got everything from boot stomping to jaw dropping and even tear jerking. You’ll hear music that fits into the Americana genre, with special appearances from the sub-genres indie rock, bluegrass folk-pop, country, soul, and roots traditions.

This year your lineup includes the following, along with a brief description to get a hint of what you can expect on March 20th at The Cabooze in Minneapolis…

Laura Hugo is rooted in the Americana genre with branches that dip into indie-rock territories. She has a soulful voice that she showcases with catchy hooks and emotional songwriting.

Songwriter Ellen Stanley, aka Mother Banjo, brings a bluegrass-leaning approach to Americana. She has the instrumentation that is blatantly blue-grass, but pairs it with strong lyrics to add in an Americana feel.

Haley E Rydell changes up the line up with her unique folk-pop spin on Americana. Her music paints a scene via her brilliant songwriting and rich vocals.

Katy Tessman is a Mama-Americana singer/songwriter. She blends her lived experience into roots music, writing about resilience, caregiving, and the beauty of ordinary strength.

Emmy Woods writes emotionally charged Americana music, with hints of country sprinkled in. Her sound is recognizable by expressive, raw vocals and descriptive storytelling that leaves you wiping tears but wanting more.

Prepare to attend Leading Ladies of Americana (performing March 20th at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, MN) by bringing your friends, dancing shoes, and even tissues. I fully expect to be moved to boogie and moved to tears -- what more can you want? Especially on a night like March 20th.
